Solid impurities, mineral powder and heavy tar components will gradually precipitate and deposit at the bottom of asphalt tank during long-term storage. Conventional flat drain outlets are easy to form dead zones, sediments accumulate around the nozzle and block the pipeline, which affects the normal discharge of dirt and increases the difficulty of tank cleaning. Improper elevation design, lack of flow guiding structure and unreasonable caliber matching are the main factors causing sediment deposition near the drain outlet.

The optimized bottom drain outlet adopts sloped tank bottom structure, the tank bottom is inclined toward the drain port to form natural gravity flow. Install flow guiding and diversion ribs around the outlet to eliminate static dead zones. The drain nozzle is set at the lowest point of the tank bottom, and the inner edge of the nozzle is smooth and flush with the tank bottom to avoid step recess for sediment trapping. Select large-caliber outlet and add detachable filter assembly, which can intercept large solid particles while preventing pipeline blockage.

Optimize the sealing and quick disassembly structure of the drain outlet. Design detachable blind plate or quick opening structure, which facilitates manual cleaning and sludge removal without large-scale tank demolition. The nozzle material is selected for wear resistance and asphalt corrosion resistance. Add auxiliary flushing pipeline interface around the drain outlet, which can be connected with hot asphalt or cleaning medium for periodic back flushing to scour accumulated sediments.

Strictly control the welding and installation tolerance of tank bottom and drain nozzle. Ensure no welding bead protrudes into the tank interior, prevent welding seams from hanging slag and capturing solid deposits. After installation, carry out flow simulation test to verify the scouring effect of sludge toward drain outlet.

Formulate periodic operation and maintenance procedures. Regularly open the drain outlet for sludge discharge according to the sediment accumulation rate, and inspect the blockage condition of filter and pipeline. Replace damaged sealing components in time to prevent asphalt leakage.
