Asphalt density changes significantly with temperature fluctuation. The liquid level and pressure monitoring system calculates asphalt storage volume and mass based on measured liquid level data. Without temperature compensation, the density deviation caused by asphalt heating and cooling will bring obvious metering error. Inconsistent sensor installation height, drift of pressure transducer, inaccurate temperature sampling point and incomplete calibration procedure are main factors leading to measurement inaccuracy of asphalt tank monitoring system.

The calibration work integrates liquid level gauge, pressure transmitter and temperature sensors. Arrange multiple temperature sampling points inside the tank to obtain representative medium temperature instead of single-point measurement. Establish temperature-density correlation curve of stored asphalt, embed the curve into the monitoring program for real-time density compensation, convert liquid level reading into accurate mass value automatically. Calibrate pressure transmitter under working temperature range, eliminate zero drift and span error caused by thermal change.

Optimize sensor installation layout. Keep the liquid level probe away from asphalt inlet, heating coil and static dead zone to avoid local turbulence and temperature abnormal interference. Seal the sensor installation port reliably to prevent asphalt vapor corrosion and leakage. Perform static pressure calibration at different liquid height to correct the deviation between measured pressure and theoretical liquid column pressure.

Set regular calibration cycle. Use manual sounding method as reference standard to compare with system reading, adjust system parameters when deviation exceeds threshold. Conduct calibration under multiple temperature conditions to verify the compensation effect across full operating temperature range. Filter out liquid level fluctuation signal caused by thermal expansion and contraction and tank breathing effect.

Build data verification and alarm logic. Trigger warning when sensor reading drift or temperature compensation failure occurs. Formulate operation specification for on-site calibration, avoid asphalt solidification blocking sensor during calibration process.

Through systematic calibration of asphalt tank liquid level and pressure monitoring system, the measurement error induced by medium temperature variation is compensated effectively. The metering precision of asphalt inventory is improved, and reliable data support is provided for tank inventory management and material reconciliation.
