Asphalt storage is sensitive to temperature fluctuation. The existence of cold bridge on tank wall, manhole, nozzle and supporting base will cause local temperature drop, leading to asphalt condensation, thickening and coking. Continuous alternating temperature between day and night will aggravate heat loss of the tank, increase heating energy consumption, and the coked asphalt will adhere to the tank inner wall, which affects asphalt quality and brings difficulties to tank cleaning. Unreasonable insulation thickness, discontinuous insulation wrapping and poor sealing at structural joints are the main inducements for cold bridge formation.

The insulation and anti cold-bridge design adopts integral continuous thermal insulation cladding. High thermal resistance, low water absorption insulation material is selected for tank shell. Special shaped insulation blocks are customized for manholes, pipe nozzles, tank bottom support and other vulnerable cold bridge positions to realize seamless coverage. Separate the metal rigid connecting parts from the tank body by thermal isolation gaskets, cut off the heat conduction path of metal cold bridge.

Optimize the outer protective layer of insulation structure. The outer jacket has good waterproof performance to prevent rainwater penetrating into insulation layer, avoiding thermal performance degradation caused by damp insulation. Control the compression of insulation materials during construction, prevent excessive compression from reducing thermal resistance. Set temperature monitoring points at cold bridge risk positions to track local temperature changes.

After construction, heat loss test and surface temperature scanning are carried out to check temperature distribution of tank exterior. Detect local low-temperature points to verify whether cold bridge is eliminated. Set upper and lower temperature limits for tank heating control system, reduce frequent heating compensation caused by heat loss.

Form regular maintenance specification, check insulation jacket damage, water seepage and insulation material aging. Repair damaged insulation in time to prevent new cold bridge from forming during long-term operation.

Through insulation and cold-bridge prevention structural design of asphalt tank, heat leakage and local low temperature are reduced effectively. Day-night temperature fluctuation inside tank is minimized, asphalt coking risk is decreased, stable storage environment of asphalt is guaranteed and energy consumption of heating system is saved.
