Replace the traditional asphalt joint filling process with sealant joint filling technology. Dealing with cracks in asphalt pavement is a major improvement in current highway maintenance technology. Due to the limitations of the low-temperature cold brittleness and high-temperature softening property of asphalt materials, the cracks repaired by traditional techniques will recrack after a year of expansion and contraction of the surface layer with changes in temperature. The existence of this problem has increased the workload and material costs of road surface maintenance and upkeep. However, the sealant joint filling process overcomes the shortcomings of traditional asphalt materials in terms of material performance. Fumei pavement crack sealant is mainly composed of a composite material of modified asphalt and heat shrinkable rubber. The main features are low viscosity at high temperatures and high elasticity at low temperatures, depending on the ambient temperature of the area where it is used. This product is divided into cold low-temperature type, common temperate type and hot high-temperature type. According to the heating method, this product can be divided into direct heating type and indirect heating type.

【 Performance Features
The Fumei series of sealants are composite materials of solid modified asphalt and thermoplastic rubber. They melt quickly, have strong adhesion, and possess excellent anti-deformation recovery performance. Compared with other types of sealants, this type has the characteristics of low consistency and easy penetration into various cracks. In summer, its high-temperature softening point can reach 96℃. In winter, its low-temperature resistance can reach approximately -23℃, making it more suitable for temperate environments with large temperature differences.

"Calculate the amount of materials used
According to the empirical formula accumulated by Fumei Company based on years of practical experience and theoretical research, when the high molecular road sealant is applied at the specified construction temperature, 1kg of sealant can seal a crack that is 8 meters long, 1cm wide and 1cm deep.
For instance, if a longitudinal crack with a width and depth of 2cm is 15 meters long, the amount of sealant used is: 2×2×15×0.12=7.2kg
"Heating sealant
In the heating chamber of the hot melt kettle, the sealant is heated and melted until the specified construction temperature of 193℃ is reached.
Note: During the heating process of the sealant, it is essential to ensure that it is heated evenly. It is recommended to use heating equipment with heat transfer oil or hot air as the medium to prevent the sealant from burning. Therefore, when there is no equipment like a hot melt kettle that can ensure uniform heating of the material, it is not advisable to use a wok for heating asphalt or other equipment that directly heats with an open flame to heat the sealant. To ensure construction safety, traffic control should be implemented first. In accordance with the regulations on traffic control for highway maintenance operations stipulated in the "Technical Specifications for Highway Maintenance", conical signs and mobile sign vehicles should be placed, and a dedicated person should be assigned to direct traffic and move the construction signs in a timely manner as the construction progresses.
Grooving
According to the designed slot size, adjust the width and depth of the slotting machine and then carry out the slotting operation. During the construction process, adjust the slot size in a timely manner according to the cracking changes and meet the minimum design requirements.
Seam cleaning
Use a compressed air gun or a forest fire extinguisher to blow dry the dust and debris within at least 5cm on both sides of the trough.
Preheating
Sealant should be used when the road surface temperature exceeds 4℃. Using it at low temperatures may reduce its stickiness. There is too much moisture in the cracks of the squid. If the temperature is below 4℃, appropriate heating methods can be used to ensure that the minimum required limit is met. If sealing is required at a temperature below 4℃, it is essential to ensure that the cracks are dry, free of water and debris. The temperature of the sealant should be maintained at a safe heating temperature, and the sealant should be inspected by professionals to ensure its adhesion.
Joint filling
Under the condition that the sealant reaches 193℃, the sealant is evenly injected into the groove using a pressure nozzle equipped with a scraper on the joint filling terminal.
Care and maintenance
After filling the joint with sealant, traffic cannot be opened immediately. It is necessary to allow traffic only when the sealant has cooled down sufficiently. The general cooling time is about 15 minutes. When implementing it specifically, it can be flexibly adjusted according to the temperature conditions.
